The first building in Chicago to offer air conditioning was the Wrigley Building, in 1921.

Rate this fact:

For an old building, the Wrigley is surprisingly ahead of its time; it also won "Energy Star rating and LEED Gold Existing Buildings certification in 2011."

A recent Buzzfeed article claims it was the first office building in the world to offer air conditioning, though I've been unable to verify this. Further, the building's own website says only Chicago, suggesting this may be an exaggeration.
