Abu Dhabi owns a nearly-majority share of a 75 year lease on Chicago's curb-side parking.

Rate this fact:

In a rather shady deal, Mayor Daley sold a 75 year lease on parking rights in the City of Chicago (and then Mayor Emanuel locked the deal in). Morgan Stanley put together a consortium of investors in 2008, and won the bid. Then, in 2009, within two months of the city selling the parking rights, the ownership changed to Deeside Investments, of which 49.9% is owned by the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, from the United Arab Emirates.
