Out of the Loop | The Loop Chinatown

Early Chinese immigrants to Chicago lived in the Loop's Chinatown, along Clark between Van Buren and Harrison. It wasn't until 1910 that Chinatown moved to its current location in Armour Square.

The population, small relative to the current Chinese population in Chicago of over 43,000, moved out of the south Loop because of growing real estate prices and nasty Tong (gang) wars.
